Elkton hosts the 28th annual Elkton All Mechanics and the 31st Elkton Fall Festival on B Street near Elkton Elementary. More than 100 crafters set up with gospel and bluegrass bands, dancers, and clowns. Food vendors offer fried chicken burgers pork rinds and cotton candy as Autumn Days runs Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday noon to 5 pm.

Werner retires after 35 years with RCFR McGaheysville
Jeff Werner, 54, retired from Rockingham County Fire and Rescue on Oct. 1 after 35 years of service. He was a captain with Elkton's Volunteer Fire Company since 2008 and previously served with McGaheysville and Elkton fire companies. Hopkins seek special use permit for Cave Hill Farm events center

Elkton Middle FFA shines in state dairy contest
Elkton Middle School FFA reports 65 members with about 50 at the Oct 3 meeting. A 17-member EMS dairy team won the state title at the Sept 26 State Fair Junior Dairy Contest led by Colton Allison who won first place and a $400 scholarship. Funkhouser placed seventh. EMS also competed in forestry judging, placing second in federation with Tanner Conley earning gold, Funkhouser silver, and Cole Conley bronze. EMS officers were elected Oct 1 with a record turnout of 17 candidates. officers include Colton Allison president and Katelyn Funkhouser VP among others.
