Elkton EZ5K run honors memory of Ethan Zander
The EZ5K run and walk in Elkton honored 16 year old Ethan Zander from East Rockingham High School after a May car crash. 131 registered and 81 ran as proceeds fund an Ethan Zander scholarship and support Elkton fire, emergency squad, and EACC trail improvements. Ryan Seal, 14, won the 5K with 20 11.

Independent Chadwick W. Cubbage won the Page County sheriff race in the November 3 election, defeating incumbent John Thomas. Cubbage led with 48 percent, while Thomas had 38 percent and Page D. Campbell Jr. received 14 percent as an independent.

Elkton adds business decorating contest to Christmas Parade
Elkton expands its annual parade with a business decorating contest led by Zoning Administrator Charlotte Shifflett. Top three winners earn cash prizes and pottery from the Elkton Progressive Improvement Committee, chosen by visiting judges. Contest theme is self selected, with judging Dec. 16 and awards Dec. 21 at town council. Parade route altered, starting at Spotswood Trail Ter race to Spotswood Avenue.

David Foltz, 26, a Page County High School alumnus, opened a photo studio at 507 First St in the old mill building. His passion began in 2006 with photos of his niece and grew through his high school yearbook work. He earned a BFA in photography from The Art Institute of Washington and has eight years of professional experience, willing to travel within Page and Rockingham counties.

Skyline Drive Night Closures Through January 3 2016
Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park will be closed at night from Nov 9 through Jan 3 2016 to curb illegal hunting. Closures run 5 PM to 8 AM between Front Royal and Thornton Gap and from Swift Run Gap to the south. central Thornton to Swift Run remains open until Skyland Resort closes Nov 29, then closes 5 PM to 8 PM from Nov 30 to Jan 3. Park Superintendent Jim Northup notes a reward program for information leading to arrests.

Massanutten Ski Lodge Completes Major Renovation
Massanutten Resort finishes its first large renovation since 1985 at the ski lodge. The project adds a 13000 square foot snowsports learning center for children a 5000 square foot deck with an umbrella bar and an expanded climbing wall among other upgrades. The 1971 lodge began a 35 million expansion a year ago.
