Elkton council mulls tax hikes and water sewer plan
At a Monday meeting the Elkton council discussed raising cigarette taxes and small annual water sewer rate increases to avoid large yearly jumps. Proposed budgets keep real and personal property rates unchanged while a 3 percent rise would lift sewer, water, and trash charges. A sinking fund idea was raised but not included. A public hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 11.
