The AMOCO station at Stuart Avenue and Spotswood Trail was built in 1951 by Elkton native Danny Flory. Elkton native Lester B. Babe McGuire became the fourth owner turning the station into Babe's Amoco. Elkton High School students refueled at 39 cents a gallon with free oil checks and windshields washed. Babe's Amoco lasted nearly two decades until 1972 before Ronnie Meadows ran Meadow's Auto Service from 1973. The site was later razed for a BB&T Bank.
