Elkton approves 3 million contract for clarifier project
Elkton signs a 3 million contract with MEB Contracting Inc of Chesapeake to install two clarifiers at the wastewater treatment plant to remove sediment before release to the South Fork Shenandoah River. The town closed on 3.56 million in bonds on June 2, with about 500,000 for engineering and fees as phase two of a four stage upgrade.

The Angli can Church of the Lamb plans to relocate by late June from a yellow building at 315 W Spotswood Trail to the downstairs of the circa 1890 Elkton Mill Co. building. Owners Steve and Leah Napotnik bought the property last year and have remodeled the upstairs for Union Paper Corp and other tenants.

Harrisonburg East Rockingham High School held the Sunday graduation at James Madison University’s Convocation Center for 163 seniors. During the ceremony a moment of silence was observed for Orlando nightclub victims. Principal Eric Baylor presented Zander’s parents with an honorary diploma, noting his positive influence during his 16 years.
