Elkton council weighs electric cost pass through and budget
The Elkton town council debated whether to absorb or pass along the monthly rise in electric costs, estimated at about 70,000 dollars, and discussed a new power generator at the sewer plant. Debated also were trash collection staffing, consent orders with DEQ, and delaying final budget votes until the May meeting.

Old Wrangler Jeans building demolished in Shenandoah
The historic Wrangler Jeans Casey Jones building at Virginia Avenue and Second Street in Shenandoah was razed last month after roof failures from heavy snowfall. Owners Hunter and Christie Martin remodeled it for business use and housed a church tenant, but insurance declared it a total loss as the west wall relied on improvised buttresses. Town officials noted a lack of buyers or renters and the site’s long standing status as a historical marker.
