Elkton blaze displaces 18 after kitchen fire at The Alley
Investigators say an appliance failure in The Alley restaurant started a blaze that damaged a two story building at 9303-307 W Spotswood Trail in Elkton. The accidental fire on Christmas Eve left 18 people homeless, required 75 firefighters about two hours to control, and led to minor injuries for three people. The structure owned by Great Potential LLC dates to 1942 and is valued at 125500 with six apartments on the second floor. Twins Barber Shop and Vapin in the Valley occupied front storefronts 303 and 307. Local aid from Elkton Area United Services noted strong community response.
