Elkton Field Day Draws Crowds Despite Saturday Rain
The Elkton Field Day parade and carnival sponsored by the Junior Order drew good crowds last week. The Inners Shows carnival ran Tuesday through Saturday with attendance dipping only on Saturday due to late afternoon rain. Despite competition from Harrisonburg Grottoes and Greene County events, turnout remained strong. Friday featured a car and antique tractor parade in ShenElk Plaza and fireworks, with organizers calling Friday one of the biggest turnouts. Saturday rain delayed activities until after the parade, then crowds returned for carnival rides and the Junior Order food booth as night fell and the moon came out. The event included a Battle of the Bands with bands performing in the evening.
