Patrolman Arrested After He Shot Negro In Sapulpa
Sapulpa Oklahoma September 8 Special. Slim Nelson a 26 year old Negro police character was shot and perhaps fatally wounded by Patrolman T Nelson white in the Negro district when officers responded to a disturbance call. Nelson claimed self defense after the Negro drew a knife and advanced. The patrolman was taken to county jail after his gun and badge were seized during Mayor Smith led inquiry amid rumors.

Negro Physicians Perform Remarkable Operation
News arrives of a difficult surgery performed by Drs. J. T. Wilson of Memphis Tennessee and L. H. Johnson of Coweta two Black physicians on Mrs. James Cherry of this city. The operation removed 18 to 20 pounds of internal matter after intestines protruded beyond the peritoneum and a large fat burden. Mrs. Cherry is recovering at Memphis hospital and will return home lighter and healthier within days. The white physician Dr. Butler had refused to continue after deeming the operation perilous.

Citizens met at the Peoples Social Club to revive the Local Business League after months of inactivity. Lee McKregor was elected president with Capt T. D. Jackson and A. J. Smitherman as officers.
