Riot Averted By Race Men In Arkansas Fire

Nearly 500 people homeless as a two hour blaze sweeps eight blocks of a colored district in Vine and Pine Bluff Arkansas. Losses estimated between 200000 and 500000 with 54 homes destroyed. no fatalities reported and few injuries, residents organize funds and guards patrol the area.

Man slays attempt as wife tied and stabbed in dispute

Police answered a Sundaight call to 1712 South Madison and found Mrs. Finas Parker tied to a chair with two stab wounds to the breast. They say Finas Parker inflicted the wounds after a long quarrel. he has not been captured and the woman is expected to recover.

Hill Not Returning to Arkansas After Dismissal

In Leavenworth Kansas on Oct 15, the Kansas federal court actions to compel Robert Hill, accused of race disturbances at Viet last fall, were dismissed at the request of Attorney General Palmer. Hill is now a free man with no pending proceedings, though friends say he has taken farm work nearby and may not return to Arkansas.
