Rowe Wins Gambling Night Cash in Tulsa Drug Store Hold Up Tale

A Tulsa rumor claims Rowe, a Fountain Drug Store porter, did not rob the store but won $800 at a basement gambling game. Early reports alleged Deputy Cleaver and Detective Rice pursued Rowe after a shootout. Rice was wounded. Later accounts say Rowe may be the victim of a conspiracy by gambling den keepers, who allegedly framed him to recover funds.

Colored Girl In Custody Of Police

A one year old colored girl is held by city police awaiting the judge’s decision. Reported to suffer morphine addiction for two years, she was arrested Wednesday with Van Pringle and his wife near the city. Her arms bear scars from hypodermic needles. Oklahoma has no reform school for wayward colored youths, so she may be sent to the state school for colored blind and orphan children at Taft.
