Republicans Win By 206 Votes In Tulsa City Election

The city swung Republican as T J Evans and his ticket won, with Mayor Hubbard defeated by 206 votes. Colored precincts 28 1 3 and 10 boosted Democratic totals, while overall the Republican administration will run city affairs for two years.

Kentucky Passes Anthlynch Law Victory for Democrats

Colored Citizens Win Long Fight Per Passage of Bill

New York April 4. After the March 29 lynching of Grant Smith in Millersburg Kentucky by a mob, the Kentucky legislature passed a lynching law. Governor Morton signed it with Colored Citizens present. Penalties set death or life imprisonment for lynching and 2 to 21 years for attempted lynching. The bill had strong support from the Frankfort NAACP chapter led by Dr. B. E. Underwood. The law takes effect after the required 90 day period.

Y W C Club hosts national worker at clinic meeting

The Y W C A Club welcomed Cordelia A. Winn national field worker from New York City at the tuberculosis clinic on April 1. She praised curb work and urged growth of a local Y W C A branch. Mrs Winn spoke at Mt Zion Baptist Church March 31 with Mrs Dan Seaggs present. Gaver’s steam laundry opened on East Archer Street to strong early trade.
