Wind power to go on grid in October
Acciona will operate the Chin Chute wind project as it comes online in October. The project, with 20 General Electric turbines on towers about 20 stories high, sits on 538 hectares and supports nearby SunBridge and Magrath Wind Power ventures involving Enbridge and Suncor. Turbines start at nine kilometres per hour wind and shut at 58 km/h. Blades are hollow fibreglass, turbine life about 20 years, gearboxes overhauled in five to six years.
