A Taber area homeowner is charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm after a hatchet strike on a male suspect during a break and enter in progress near Taber on May 29 2010. The assailant was later served a court summons for November 26 2010 in Taber Provincial Court.
At 4 10 a m last Wednesday a Taber Police constable responded to a motor vehicle in the Taber Motel lot on Highway 3 and 54th Street. Smoke filled the cab as the officer pulled the driver free and the vehicle ignited. The 23 year old Drumheller man faces impairment charges and will appear in Taber Provincial Court on Nov 9 2010. Substantial damage to the car and adjacent building was reported. Insp. Graham Abela commended the officer for saving a life.
