Taber RCMP responded to a serious head on motor vehicle collision on Highway 36 north of Township Road 102 yesterday at about 8:30 a.m. Traffic was backed up and motorists were asked to avoid the area. No further details were available at press deadline.
Police Commission Chair John MacDonald and Chief Graham Abela briefed town council on the 2025 Tabor Police Service operating and capital budget and the annual policing plan. They cited officer resignations, need for senior recruits, and a new digital management evidence clerk position, with tuition and stipends totaled at about 49 500 plus uniform costs and helmet equipment estimated at 6 000 per car.
Local residents voiced objections at a November public hearing as Taber council considers removing the reserve designation on Ernest Meyer Memorial Park at 53 Street and 40 Avenue. Administration backs reclassifying the 2.14 acre parcel to allow recreation and beautification funds from any sale, though no sale is pending.
