Centennial celebrations begin Thursday at 7 p.m. in the community centre with 100 Voices for 100 Years. Saturday features a pancake breakfast 8 a.m. and a parade at 11 a.m. time capsule opening, stage shows, contests, theater every half hour, and a fireworks finale at 10:15 p.m.
After a library board meeting last Wednesday the Taber council moved to review the northwest corner of Confederation Park as a potential site for Taber's new library. A vote at the last night’s council meeting would decide June 13 whether to keep the old fire hall site or switch to Confederation Park.
Grade 2 students at L T Westlake School finished drawings of Taber history linking lessons to family roots. Teacher Annie Leiverse assigned 100 topics for grades 1 to 5, encouraging personal connections to the region’s formative years.
John Muller of Cranford will ride 7 125 kilometers across Canada over 10 and a half weeks starting June 25 from Abbotsford B C to Halifax. He represents Burdett CRC while wife Staci and Allan Kielstra ride for Taber CRC with Kielstra doing part of the eastern leg. The 100th anniversary celebration involves 87 churches and spans from Granum to Ontario.
