Longtime Hungarian-Canadian Pioneer Ethel Krizsan Turns 100
Ethel Krizsan, born July 24 1910 in Hungary, arrived in Canada at 17 and later settled near Lac La Biche and Barnwell after a nomadic early farming life. She and Andrew built a large family across Legal Normandeau and Taber, recalling 1930s hardship and 27 cent bushel harvests while cherishing Canada as home with strong family ties. A birthday tea at Clearview Lodge is planned this Friday from 2 to 4 p.m.
