Two contestants Kasandra Jensen and Kori Christensen compete for the Taber Pro Rodeo queen title this weekend. Judges meet at 10 p.m. Wednesday at the rodeo grounds with the mayor in attendance, and the crowning occurs at 2 p.m. Saturday at the rodeo start.
The 2011 Taber parade shifts to July with sunny weather and no snow. The event starts Saturday with a pancake breakfast sponsored by Love Taber, followed by the parade at 11 a.m. Local churches and the Taber Ministerial Association organize town cleanup and candy handouts. Three bands are confirmed as entries and preparations are underway for a lively summer showcase.
Taber town council approved Stantec Consulting Ltd to design and manage a water treatment plant upgrade at a cost not to exceed 695 600 dollars plus a 69 560 dollar contingency. EPCOR Water Services awarded the contract after scoring, with J K Engineering offering the lowest bid at 595 000 dollars but lacking scale and relevant experience.
