Rubber processing plant proposal withdrawn near Taber

The proposed Green Prairie International 18 burner plant to convert tires into gas products was withdrawn after heavy opposition and a deadline appeal period. The Town of Taber received over 500 letters while the M D of Taber had a formal appeal from Buster Carswell. the MD had conditionally approved the permit on Jan 8 before withdrawal. Environmental concerns were dismissed by officials though public perception remained critical.

Public input sought on town's new land-use bylaw

Taber town council approved a formal public review process for a new land-use bylaw to replace the 19 year old document. Open houses are planned Feb 9 and Feb 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the town office, with first reading targeted March 27. Residents may comment online or by mail.

Traffic lights delayed at Wal-Mart intersection with highway likely by July

Temporary lights for the Highway 3 and Highway 36 intersection were rejected due to a 160000 cost burden on the town of Tabor. Construction of permanent lights may start April 5 with a finish around July 15. The town will share costs with the province totaling about 1.164 million.
