CWB Directors Press Senate on Bill C-18
Allan Oberg Stewart Wells and others urged the Senate Agriculture and Forestry committee to reject Bill C-18 citing a Federal Court ruling that the government erred in dismantling the single desk. They argued the bill bypassed due process and warned of continued democratic rights violations and uncertain marketing for western grain. Humphrey Banack of Wild Rose Agricultural Producers warned farmers face uncertain marketing options for the next crop year. The committee was to report back and may invoke closure to end debate and pass the bill.
