Minister Morton Holds Talks With Alberta Local Leaders

Ted Morton Minister of Sustainable Resource Development met with representatives from the M D of Taber County of Lethbridge and Vulcan County in Coaldale at Land-o-Lakes Golf Club. The discussions focused on the land-use framework covering the region south of the South Saskatchewan River including Red Deer and surrounding areas.

Taber native named to top navy post in Atlantic Fleet

Commodore Ron Lloyd, 45, of Taber Alberta, takes command of the Canadian Navy's Atlantic Fleet after a career that included Navy training at Royal Roads, service on HMCS Iroquois Yukon Terra Nova and Calgary, and deployments supporting UN operations in the Arabian Gulf and Adriatic. He credits his mother with urging education over quick money and notes the leading roles available to officers in the Navy.

Corn stands reopen in Taber after hail doubts

Susie Quiring of Jensen corn reports two stands in Taber selling about 100 sacks of corn in a day. Corn goes for $5 per dozen and $2.50 per half dozen as Jensen operates stands across Lethbridge and nearby towns. Quiring notes strong demand with 40 sacks on Thursday and expects sales to continue for a couple weeks.
