The 11th Annual Charity Golf Tournament by the Taber Special Needs Society takes place Wednesday at Taber Golf Club. Registration is 73 dollars includes 18 holes, power cart, steak supper and prizes with a deadline August 9. Contact Stacy at 223-4941 to register.
Police report a series of incidents around Taber Alberta from Aug 7 to Aug 13 including damaged vehicle windows possibly from a slingshot, fireworks, a trailer break in, an intoxicated male charged after trying to enter a home, damaged vehicles, overturned garbage bins, ATM envelope theft with a suspect, hit and runs, unpaid shoplifting, and two males shot at with a BB gun from a moving truck.
A 41 year old Barnwell man pleaded guilty in Tabor provincial court to uttering threats to cause bodily harm and received a suspended sentence with nine months of probation. Crown prosecutor Brad Stephenson noted a June 6 RCMP response to threats against a local woman and a dated criminal record.
Police responded to an August 7 robbery claim near 51st Street and 50th Avenue. Brandon Lawson, 23, of Taber was arrested while trying to car jack a second vehicle and faces charges including two robbery counts and resisting arrest.
