Alberta Lieutenant Governor Norman L. Kwong visits Taber for APEX awards ceremony. Officials from local government and business leaders attend to honor community achievement and contributions.
Taber will host a full time Alberta Alcohol and Drug Use Commission office announced by Calgary-Lougheed MLA Dave Rodney and AADAC chair with CEO Murray Finnerty. The site will hire two staff and may open by July with space to be arranged, expanding outpatient services to nearby communities.
Taber police probe an alleged attempted abduction after a passenger in a truck allegedly told a boy and girl to get into the vehicle as they walked home from school on 58rd Avenue and 48th Street. Children ran away. Insp. Graham Abela urged vigilance and community reporting of suspicious activity.
Twenty one local youths were nominated for the 2006 APEX Youth Awards but four stood tallest Billy Crawford Amy Kapcsos Koral Mathers and Delaniah Shuya earned 1500 bursaries last Thursday night. Other nominees included Wyatt Fiedler Lisa Froese Josh Swan Nicole Johnson Toni Johnson Tory Kallio Tyler Kerner Blaine Lowry Brett McCoy Skyler McNiven Berwick Nicolle O Grady Jenna Schmidtke Kayla Stolk Tyler White Christina Beese Jaden Odland and Brent Poynton. Shaya admitted she was shocked by her win.
