Notable notes include a 3,321 foot depth reaching a gas-bearing depth with strong pressure in the Fourth Sand, and multiple tests in the Keener and Roane formations. Drowning of Roy Alexander At Wesley Lake
Roy Alexander 76 a Brenham post office clerk drowned at Wesley Lake while with a post office crew. He fell from a steep bank into about sixteen feet of water, could not swim, and was found after diving for matches and papers floating on the surface. A coroner’s examination showed death by drowning. The incident occurred while his mother, elderly and ill, had recently moved to Brenham, prompting the family to relocate for a milder climate. The Brenham Texly Banner Press reports the sequence of events and notes Alexander’s popularity and service at the local post office.
