Low rooted cottage design with two stories and porch
A popular two story cottage plan features a first floor of roughly 26 by 36 feet including a left piazza and a full basement with coal bin. It has three rooms on the main level and three bedrooms on the second floor with closets and a sleeping porch over the dining room. Construction uses cement studs and plaster with oak and birch finishes, wide window casings, and a front flower box. Estimated cost ranges from 2400 to 2800, not including seating or smoking areas.
Federation of Clubs and Knights hold West Weston sessions
The third annual convention of the First Congressional district of the Federation of West Virginia Women’s Clubs met in Weston at the Presbyterian church with opening devotions and welcomes. Delegates heard reports, discussed woman suffrage and film censorship, and enjoyed tours and performances. Knights of Columbus held their state convention with multiple degrees, banquets, and a closing dance, while the death of Mrs. Talton shocked the community.
