Georgetown seeks federal grant to back grid resiliency upgrades
Georgetown City Council approved a Department of Energy Grid Resiliency Grant application to fund electric system improvements estimated at 18.3 million with 9.3 million reimbursed by the grant. The Texas Division of Emergency Management would manage funding and timing could shift final costs. The June 25 Consent Agenda also noted the 2024 Historic Tax Exemption program allowing 10,000 or greater exterior projects to qualify for partial property tax relief, with one Old Town Historic Overlay District home approved for 2024 taxes costing the city 1,246 in ad valorem taxes.
