The Williamson County Sheriff’s Posse hosts its annual rodeo June 27-28 at WCSP Arena in Jarrell with events like bareback bronc riding steer wrestling girls breakaway roping and mutton bustin. Tickets start at $20 with parking $5 and a 6 p.m. doors open.
Williamson County hosts a series of rodeos from May through October at venues including Harvest Ranch Arena Liberty Hill Wilco Fair and Rodeo Cedar Park HEB Center Georgetown Windsong Farm Arena and Wilco Expo Center. Notable events feature professional riders from Texas and Louisiana with youth training at Clayman Rodeo and the fifth anniversary Wilco Fair and Rodeo set for October 22-25.
GISD reports progress in 2025 STAAR results with gains in math reading science and social studies across grades 3-8 but notes district scores trailing state averages in most categories. Sixth and eighth graders lead math gains while third and fourth graders show reading improvements. gaps remain in several subjects.
GISD shows a 13 point gap in fifth grade science with the state at 64 percent versus 51 percent for GISD. Seventh grade math difference is only 1 percent with state 52 percent and GISD 51 percent. GISD's top gains from 2024 include eighth grade math up eight percent and third grade reading up nine percent. Fourth and seventh grade GISD math both fell five points. state gains peaked in fifth grade science at seven percent while state fourth grade math dropped five percent.
