A force from Ft. Meade led by 1st Lieut. Stryker arrived in Lemmon in a practice march. About 448 men per infantry company plus a cavalry detachment, artillery platoon, pack mule train and wagons swept the town early Saturday, after traveling roughly 150 miles with 20 miles to go.

Lightning Kills Man as Storm Ravages City
Severe storm Sunday night across the city left Daniel Larson dead from a lightning strike in the Selman neighborhood. His shack was demolished and Bonskald was briefly knocked out before reviving to reach a neighbor. Larson, about 28 and unmarried, had spent Sunday afternoon playing baseball with neighbors. his parents live in Sweden. Nearby, two Mr Scott horses in Steets Corcoran pasture were killed by lightning. W. C. Siger’s house was touched and chimney demolished but no injuries occurred.
