A strong quake swept Salvador city and surrounding towns, wiping out villages and destroying property. Two people were reported killed locally with many missing. only the coast escaped widespread destruction. Authorities urge calm as residents seek temporary shelter and assess losses.
Winston N C Sept 10 The first brick on Winston's municipal building was laid by Mayor Mast today. Boxes for the free mail delivery system have arrived. Mr Samuel B Jones a prominent educator and county magistrate dropped dead early this morning at his home in Clemmonsville He was county commissioner and surveyor of Davidson county before Clemmonsville was transferred to Forsyth.
At Philadelphia Chicago defeated Philadelphia 6 to 1. Boston rang up 18 over Cincinnati 7 in Boston. New York edged Cleveland 6 to 5. Brooklyn beat Pittsburgh 4 to 3. St Louis downed Boston 11 to 3. Baltimore defeated Louisville 3 to 1. Milwaukee crushed Washington 30 to 3.
