Raleigh Male Academy announces enrollment under principals Son and Denson with Col Hawood assisting for the fourth year. Classes begin Monday in August with preparations for all ages. Catalogues available by addressing the depository noted in the notice.
A heated Republican state convention in Raleigh features temporary chairman Jno H Schenck and a clash over credentials. Delegates from Edgecombe New Hanover and Cumberland contend over seating rights amid gag rules and party infighting. A State ticket is nominated by acclamation with Furbhes as candidate for governor and Moody for lieutenant governor, while a party platform denounces Democratic control and calls for reform and education.
The Easternfield Trial Club and Sporting Society of New York and Philadelphia, aided by A A Halton ex Guilford county clerk, buy ten thousand acres near Jamestown NC to erect a hundred thousand dollar club house. A shooting incident in Snow Creek township leaves Geo Hall mortally wounded by moonshiner C B Smith at his blockade distillery. Cleveland will skip Bloomington rally in October. Bankhead and Cobb are renominated in their districts.
Capt. Frank Cunningham of Richmond headlines a Confederate concert at Metropolitan Hall in Raleigh this evening to raise funds for the monument. Raleigh ladies including Mary Snow Maud Marshall Evie Ellis Alice Wynne and Minnie Tucker join in, with the Pythian band and a comet solo by Mr Davis. General admission is 25 cents and reserved seats 50 cents sold at MacRae's drugstore.
Mr W L Kennedy owner of the Kennedy Stock Farm Falling Creek Lenoir County has purchased in Kentucky several racing stock horses including Traffic and Advice. The horses boast lineage from Electioneer Morgan Wilkes and Belmont among others with multiple 2:30 list progeny. Kennedy’s purchases are praised as the best stock brought into the state and horsemen wish him success.
Notice of summons and warrant of attachment issued in Wake County North Carolina in the action W A Myatt vs Jne D Page. Defendant must appear or plead to the complaint at judge Haywood’s court on September 27, 1592, or risk default. Amount claimed is 1492.40 with interest from September 1, 2574. The sheriff will execute the attachment.
Louisburg Female College announces a 1857 founding with session starting September 1. The full literary course includes physical culture and lodging, costing 140 dollars per year. Programs feature music, art, elocution, stenography, typing, telegraphy, and a business course, with brick buildings and ample grounds.
The institution offers literature science elocal music artography and typewriting with specialists in each department. Health costs averaged thirteen cents last session.
