Washington plans show the Co-Operative Town Company of Tennessee locating a large manufacturing town at Elizabethton in the Watauga valley. The site sits near Cranberry iron mines with rich lands. Rail routes to Doe Mountain country and several lines are to pass through Elizabethton linking to Norfolk and Western East Tennessee Virginia and Georgia and Charleston Cincinnati and Chicago railroads. An evening reception hosted by Miss Lucy Hawkins at her North Blount street home celebrated her guest Miss Van Rensselaer of New Jersey. The residence bloomed with flowers and lights. eight to eleven oclock drew a throng of cheerful callers. Miss Hawkins and Miss Van Rensselaer, joined by Misses Hinsdale and Janet Badger, oversaw a superb dining room repast that left guests with a lasting pleasant impression.
