Sensation in Charleston court as inmate slashes throat after sentence
In Charleston South Carolina on March 4 Samuel Randall a young mulatto convicted of assault and battery suddenly drew a self made razor and cut his throat as the judge sentenced him to one year in the penitentiary. The mob surged at the doorway and the judge adjourned the court while deputies cleared the room. Randall was guarded to jail with a serious but non fatal wound.
