St Marys School marks semi centennial with Whitsunday rites
Rainy Sunday morning saw a large gathering at Christ Church for St Marys School fifty year commemoration. Rev Dr Cheshire and Rev Dr Smedes led the service with the girls choir, readings, and a tribute to founder Rev Dr Albert Smedes. Alumni and early board members attended as the school celebrated 1542 to 1892 history. Opened as boys school, St Marys became a girls school under Smedes, growing with 4750 pupils over five decades and broad geographic representation. A Wake Forest event followed with class activities and a reception for the 92 class at President Taylors residence.

The Teachers Assembly Rail Plan and Sessions
The Teachers Assembly announces rail rates remain as before with a small per mile increase. Tickets are valid June 18 to July 3 with return by July 14. Membership fees are 2 dollars for men and 1 dollar for women, paid to rail agents via ticket coupons. At Morehead City the secretary issues official certificates of membership, granting hotel board at Atlantic Hotel and free assembly access. The plan saves time and simplifies payment. the assembly opens June 21 and runs two weeks with lectures by Frank Beard and Thomas Dixon among others. Col. Frank G. Ruffin died, and Gov. McKinney will appoint a second auditor to replace him.
