Labor agent A W Alexander 30, a native of Anniston Ala, was shot and killed at the door of A H Jones 26 in New Orleans. Alexander had a troubled marriage with Jones daughter and had threatened to kill her. Jones fired twice hitting Alexander, who collapsed outside the residence. weapon found with the body.

An outsider Henry Sloker allegedly a non union blacksmith was brought in by an employment agency. About four hundred men inside the works none actively at work. Sloker says workers want to leave but passes are blocked and a mob awaits. He claims many are Russian Hebrews and says workers are treated well but cannot read newspapers.

The Columbia Launched A Triumph Of American Skill
The baptism of the Columbia at Cramp's ship yard in Philadelphia marked a triumph of American skill and workmanship. Miss Edith Morton, daughter of Vice President Morton, christened the cruiser with champagne as naval officers and Secretary of the Navy Tracey attended.
