Paris observes Bastille Day with a crowded city and a long day of events. President Carnot reviews the army at Longchamps as crowds flood the streets and celebrate France’s triumphs and hopes with ceremonies and parades.
Spectators watched the tri colored flags. Fifty bands played Marseillaise and fifty thousand voices cried Vive Carnot Vive in Army and Vive la France. Gradually the crowd blended into a single roar as Paris ends its long Champs Elysees review and returns home for the night fete.

In Desoto county Mississippi a masked mob hanged Samuel Gillespie at Love on the Illinois Central line after imprisoning him for a room raid. Twenty one bullet wounds marked the body. the coroner returned a verdict of murder by unknown assailants. In Birmingham Alabama Thomas Hyde a railroad worker was fatally shot by Solomon Bonheimer after a saloon quarrel. Bonheimer is under arrest.
London July 14 Duncan an American who recently tried to murder his wife in North Wales was acquitted on the ground of insanity but detained awaiting a court decision on his disposition.
Grand Sire Busbee's condition improved rapidly last night with sitting up twice and eating solid food. In North Carolina news, Danville reports a slander case where James Highfill is accused of making damaging remarks about Miss Cora Stone, daughter of Rev. F J Stone, triggering local uproar in Rockingham and Madison counties.
Immense Cleveland crowd welcomes Gov Campbell and Thurman at the depot. With no shift in the political landscape, anti Campbell forces falter as undecided delegates lean toward renomination. Thurman resists retirement while Lt Governor Marquis is likely to be renominated as Campbell's running mate.

Gen Thos Harrison died in Waco Texas yesterday. Born in Alabama in 1823 he served in the Mexican War and the Civil War and later played a prominent role in Texas politics.
In Victoria B C seamen discuss a memorial to Baden Powell and Dawson Behring Sea Commissioners. The sealing schooner Maggie Mac Captain Cox returned after being warned by the U S S Thetis at Behring Sea entrance. only three skins aboard. Other vessels warned are returning home.
Herbert McGinniss, four, accidentally shot his father J F McGinniss in Greensburg Pa. The rifle lay on the floor above the kitchen. Herbert picked it up and fired hitting the father in the head. He died two hours later. The family includes a wife and two children.
Spokane Washington July 14 A Northern Pacific freight train plunged from a trestle into a ravine near the city. Fireman Michael Flatherity was killed outright Roadmaster Speer was fatally hurt. The wreck damaged two cars loaded with horses and cattle with most killed.
London July 14 The Standard today says Chicago fair will be the biggest show on record It must not be neglected by British manufacturers or artists The society of arts claims to occupy the responsible position towards the fair as the government has assigned it in view of its role in London exhibitions
