In Raleigh interview Capt J. 4 Cie tas says merchants would join farmers in a move to cut cotton acres. They favor farmers growing food at home and only enough cotton to cover expenses. Crop forecasts show 1559 was poor and this season much worse with fertilizer debts and a $600,900 shortfall in Raleigh versus last year.

Alliance Convention Debates Platform Ties to Labor Bodies

Washington reports the State Alliance Presidents' Convention adopting a resolution favoring fraternal relations with labor organizations at the St Louis conference on February 22 1892 while avoiding commitment to any political party. Also notes a traveler’s claim about Cornish girls becoming strong after marriage.

Alabama Cyclone Kills and Injures Dozens at Roanoke Event

United Press reports a cyclone hit Randolph and Chambers counties on Wednesday night. Five miles from Roanoke James Williams house collapsed during a dance killing three men and wounding five women. The storm damaged Milltown shops and the Baptist church, with Professor Gibson among the dead and twelve injured. Three enslaved cabins carried away near a mile marker, with three children killed. In total many were injured and the full toll remained uncertain.

In foreign lands Albertine Forgue a leading French stage actress dies at twenty four. A protege of the Conservatoire she debuted at the Odeon and later filled in for Sarah Bernhardt in Jeanne d Arc at the Porte & Martin.
