Second Sheriff to Settle Taxes in Full for Bladen County
W S Clark sheriff of Bladen county settled with the State Treasurer paying 4839 95 for the year 1891. He is noted as the second sheriff to settle in full under the law as of the first Monday in the month. An earlier report notes the Exposition caused electrical loads and a temporary suspension at the Electric Railway power house. Rough Hoax on Rabbi Rabinowitz
United Press reports a Baltimore rabbi, Rabbi R. S. Rabinowitz, fell for a hoax letter from a James Brown typewriter signer claiming to arrange infant naming services in Warsaw North Carolina. The forged check on the National Bank of Newbern failed while Rabinowitz faced repayment obligations after traveling to meet the supposed contact.

Fifth Regiment Visit to Raleigh Celebrated by Company D
Company D of the Fifth Regiment held a banquet at Whitaker's on South Eutaw Street Baltimore in appreciation of Raleigh experiences. Smith Bros sent ten kegs of beer to Baltimore to mark the visit. Capt Geo Cole and Lieut B Frank Boyden led 55 men and invited members while Company D Glee Club sang with Company C Orchestra.

A tornado-like storm moved from Edgecombe through upper Martin destroying Goose Neck gun house and Hitch's lumber sheds with large quantities of lumber. It unroofed houses and felled trees as the 50 yard wide main track moved eastward. A man prayed as his house shook. locals note a similar storm fifty years ago.
