New York reports a slow exhumation of Park Place disaster victims. By 3 am 57 corpses were recovered as workers lack proper machinery hindering identification. Bodies, often unrecognizable, are identified by clothes or items. crowds gather around the morgue amid odors and distress.
The President's train left stations at 9 a.m. with Secretary Proctor ex Governor Smith and Mrs Smith among others. The first stop at Essex Junction earned by Governor Dillingham joining the party. Waterbury Governor Page and Adjutant General Peck greeted the presidential train.
Ex Governor Scates remains critically ill in Greensboro North Carolina with liver and heart trouble and little hope of recovery despite no bed until after Saturday. The report notes his condition worsened over the last 48 hours and he has not improved.
