City to Place Warning Signs on Busy Highways

The Spectator urged warning signs at the Plainfield and Troy road city limits. Commissioner Robert Wraith approved and will seek cooperation to post signs alerting motorists that these highways enter city limits and are patrolled by motorcycle police.

Former Mayor Sehring to be Assistant Warden at Stateville

George F. Sehring, former mayor and Democratic Central Committee chair, announced to accept Governor Horner’s offer to serve as assistant warden at Stateville. The move, discussed in Springfield, may take effect mid October with Sehring to reside at the prison. Salary now listed as 279 dollars monthly plus maintenance.

Maxwell Fired From Pilcher Park After Long Service
