Fatal Plunge From 250 Foot Flare Stack At Texas Plant
Lloyd T. Sutton a steel worker with OK Donohoe Steel Erectors died when an explosion inside an eight foot diameter flare stack at a Texas oil plant hurled him into the air. The acetylene torch he used is believed to have ignited gas, and the 250 foot stack was designed to burn waste fuel to prevent refinery fires.
