Joliet Plant Shifts 400 Workers to Five Day Week
About 400 men in the E J and E railroad machine shop and car repair shops will begin a five day week tomorrow. The move, announced by a J official, signals improving business in Joliet and will raise weekly salaries by about 2500 dollars. Previously many workers logged four days weekly and some three days. The change follows rising railroad activity and accumulated work in recent weeks.

Zenge Arrives at Old Prison for Life Term
Mandeville Zenge a 26 year old condemned slayer of Dr Bauer arrived at Joliet old prison yesterday afternoon at 3 oclock to begin a life sentence. Deputies from Chicago brought him and he was examined at the diagnostic hospital by three doctors who rated him mentally and physically. He was photographed finger printed and will be assigned to duties at the prison at an early date Assistant Warden George Sehring said. Zenge was convicted by a Chicago jury last month for the death of Dr Bauer from a mutilating operation performed on him.
