The Joliet Grade School Board District 86 narrowly approved the Joliet Plan by a 4-3 vote to submit the controversial reform to voters. President Gene Bogdan cast the deciding ballot, saying the community must decide and noting concerns about overcrowding and school transitions.

Solomon and Cordwell announce revised Bluff Plaza urban renewal plans with preliminary drawings due in four weeks and final plans in 90 days. Cordwell notes the original layout mis Positioned Bluff Street, aims to address buildable lots, land clearance, city financing, and coordination with the Clearance Commission.
Joliet hires Jay Meyer as city planner. At a Planning Commission session on Thursday at 4 p.m. he will receive a briefing on major issues including flood control water supply sewer connections housing and sidewalk planning. Continued on Page 8.
