Five local women volunteers received commemorative certificates and commendations from Ve A dministration Hos ines officials for their efforts aiding patients and veterans. Alice Heiman Mary Niven Irene Burk Ruth Hutton and Robert Yavorn were recognized for hours donated at hospitals near Maywood and Manhattan.
William Keir of Lockport a 55 year veteran scout will represent Rainbow Council at the National Council's 55th annual meeting May 19 to 21 in Bal Harbour Miami Beach. He will receive a special Rural Relationships banquet award for helping 12 councils of over 500 nationwide with marked rural area gains. A Rexall Drug and Chemical Co ABS plant to be built on a 100 acre Joliet site near I 55 and the Des Plaines River will open with 20 acres for plant and offices and 75 to 100 jobs eventually, announced by Rexall, Joliet Chamber of Commerce and Joliet Port District.
