Carpentier thanks Spectator for story on waiting drivers
Secretary of State Charles F. Carpentier thanked The Spectator for its July 21 story on long lines at the Joliet driver license exam office and the delays motorists face due to work schedules. He cited monthly workload variations from 37 516 January exams to 73 344 in June and noted peak congestion at opening, noon, and around 3 p.m. He said appointment systems failed before, budget limits hinder planning, and part time examiners do not solve overcrowding.
