Broken guard rails at two Illinois bridges draw concern
Photos show broken guard rails along the east approaches to the McDonough and Jefferson street bridges over the Illinois deep waterway. A youth near McDonough street points to a 15 foot drop. The State Division of Waterways along with the Department of Public Works and Buildings is cited as responsible for maintenance, with many more rails reported broken beyond those pictured.
