Savings concentrated in few US families after war
The United States study by the Bureau of Agricultural Economics for the Federal Reserve Board reveals that the top 10 percent of families hold 60 percent of all war savings, with $3,400 or more, while the bottom 30 percent have little or no savings. It forecasts postwar spending based on current income, with savings likely to decline in 1946 and higher earners saving more than lower earners as prices rise.
