Two Way Joliet Radio Nets Cut Crime Time
Two burglars were caught within two minutes after a neighbor phoned police as Joliet deploys a two way radio network. Safety Commissioner David Lentz led the drive with funding from a civic group, boosting police efficiency and enabling rapid fires and accidents reporting. The system uses 33 000 kilocycles with 15 watt power and will link Joliet with Aurora Elgin and Hammond as a Chicago area network expands.
