Joliet prepares for a home series opener against Lockport and Hyde Park, with Coach Mills reshuffling the heavies and Wardley stepping in. Lockport counters with solid starters as Hyde Park seeks to sharpen form against the Joliet rivals in a 7:30 tip.
Joliet junior college squad travels to Oak Park YMCA gym for a non-conference game following a 40 35 win over Morton. Lineups include Joliet forwards Furlong Brett guards Gussman Tibble and Savage at center while Oak Park counters with Coombs Wytiska Wittick Berchtold Hisik and Gomora leads the B team seeking a repeat upset.
Several hundred local residents plan to attend the St Cyril A C C New Year’s Eve celebration at Shroba’s Hall Meeker and Henderson avenues. An local orchestra will provide music for dancing with festive decorations and favors. Local clubs Moose club moved to accommodate crowds including entrants from Romeo Kankakee Morris Chicago Heights St Charles and coal fields around Wilmington Braidwood Coal City.
The local Y M C A promotes inter city athletics with boxing wrestling and swimming matches against out of town teams next year. The Y boxing team coached by Larry Hendrickson will face Kankakee in a home match early next month followed by a rematch with Streator in February. The local team won its first match against the downstaters. Harry Hohisel's wrestlers plan a grappling meet with the Lincoln Belmont Chicago team with date pending.
A large crowd is expected for the Ruby A. C. New Year’s Eve party at Rival’s Park. Those planning to attend are urged to reserve seats at Uptown Furniture today.
