Child bitten by mad dog in street incident

A child was bitten by a vicious dog believed to be owned by William Lyons of 216 N Joliet Street. Lyons was told by police to restrain the animal after nine days and to report his action.

Youth Injured by Automobile on Lockport Road

A 17 year old Chicago youth Joseph Poddlesek of 3820 West 37th Place was struck by a car while walking on Lockport road. He suffered a fractured skull and was rushed to St Josephs hospital where doctors said his condition is serious.

Fake solicitors sought in Joliet warning

Merchants and citizens of Joliet were alerted last night to two women posing as Order of St. Francis workers. The sisters reported two black dressed women, one short and one about five eight, approached a woman in the Rialto building asking for a donation. Joliet authorities say no such solicitors are known to be active.

Thousands Vote in Joliet Spectator Popular Young Man Contest

The Spectator reports Joliet residents cast thousands of votes for their favorite young man. Leader Jimmie Furlong has 4 210 votes, with Arthur Janke second at 3 940. Other top nominees include Maurice Burgess and Angelo Vigginelli as voting continues through Tuesday noon.
