Victory Day planned for Roy on November eleventh

Texas New Mexico Highway Association Ready For Annual Meet

The Texas New Mexico Highway Association readies for its Second Annual Meeting in Roy with a full program. Highlights include a 10 A M intra state meeting, 1 P M regular session, addresses by Governor Mechem and others, banquet for 300, dances, and a big barbecue on Tuesday plus races and a ball game. Delegates gather at the Post Office Building for registration and tickets for the banquet.

Glenn Anderson Hurt In Plow Accident At La Porte Indiana

Glenn Anderson, visiting his brothers in this town, was seriously injured last week in La Porte while helping load a heavy plow onto a truck when it fell and crushed him. He was taken to a hospital with internal injuries and severe bruises. He is a son of C. B. Anderson of La Porte and brother to Paul, Guy, Virgil, and Ernest Anderson.

Woodwar Named New Publican State Chairman

H B Woodwar is selected today as Republican state chairman by the state central committee meeting at the S Court Chambers in Santa Fe. Hugh Clayton is slated as chairman with other officers listed and ex officio members including F A Hubbell and Edward M Otero among several local leaders. The Elite Cafe plans a large dinner on Sunday September 24.

ISCHN MO SPEAKS TO LARGE AUDIENCE

John Morrow, Democratic nominee for Congress, spoke at Lucero Hall last Saturday night to a large audience including many non English speakers due to no interpreter. He outlined plans if elected and claimed strong local support. Mrs. H M Belknap of Ancho, New Mexico, visited briefly with Mrs. F A Roy before returning to work in Ancho.

Pleasant View School Building Sold to Local Church Group

The School Board sold the Pleasant View School Building at public auction last Tuesday. The Pleasant View Union Church and Sunday School bid the building in at a small price and plan to use it as a conioy space with new seats, paint, and repairs. Landowner Mr. Breford will deed the land to the new organization, avoiding any move of the building, to benefit the Pleasant View community and preserve local spirit.

Reed Convention Outpost as Headquarters Declared

During the Reed Convention an out store within the venue is designated as headquarters for officials and delegates. The action consolidates administrative rooms, press access, and meeting spaces to streamline operations and communications.

Spanish American to Have New Home

Feowateantile Co plans a 65 foot extension north of the Floersheim warehouse near the post office and will move by October 15. Floersheim Mercantile Co rebuilds into a modern office building with cement floors a dedicated engine pen outside and ample windows. An 24 by 28 foot front office will house the linotype and stock 190m. The Spanish American continues to publish and aims to become an eight page home print while supporting the mesa and Harding County.

Off for Wichita Fair Booster Trip From Mesa

Mr and Mrs W H McCarger and Floyd Morris left Tuesday for Wichita Kansas where Carger took a fine exhibit from the mesa to the Wichita Fair. Carger, a local real estate man, will share farming data with visitors and promote Mesa crops.
